WELCOME
ALCALICA is a band based in
Berlin and Mytilini playing live (dates) fake folk (FF) mediterranean
jungle dub step music with vocals
and traditional wooden instruments such as santoor, baglamadaki and
kalimba. we play
live in ever changing constellations adapting the music to
the place and the people we play with.
ALCALICA is involved in side projects
and collaborations such as films, dance, theater and sound design.
our fifth vinyl record will be released in January 2009 on home label photovoltaic
records.
So far only pirate digital copies of
our music are available for sale on the internet, our belief in
vinyl sound-quality delays this commercial adjustment.

We stand together in this uprising and we invite you to get connected and
informed. In the mean time it got support from all over the country and
the globe. The European media is not informing us on what is really
happening in Greece today and the last 15 days. The world leaders are
shaking. I strongly recommend you read the blog of the occupied
Polytechnic University in Athens, an asylum since this is where, in 1974
people’s uprising and killing marked the end of the dictatorship.

the Greek government has announced a siege of the Polytechnic in the next
hours (21.12.08).
We spent many months in Greece this year and there, like everywhere,
things are going very wrong. In Lesvos we witnessed the flood of people who
seek refuge and a better life in Europe, years on the road to reach golden
destination. Still Europe preferes to maintain a war and industry- based world
economy, to close its doors and waits in fear of/for terrorism.
In many ways the world we live in is also a dictatorship. The crisis that
is long due is well explained in Zeigeist (2006) an alternative award
winning documentary, free for download or real time viewing. It puts all
these things we know together, and suddently what is happening is clear.

we have to keep aware and involved, stand together in solidarity, from
Greece with the kids who refuse this world they get served, to Moscow with
Kasparov, from Argentina to Genoa. We have much more power than they let
us know. People can do everything they want. We are not a minority, this
is an uprising of the many.
